About this library

The Compass Livery Library is a curated collection of repaints applied to third-party flight simulator aircraft models. Most modern liveries are the work of Rob Grant and Bruce Blackshaw, often in collaboration; many of the older FSX-era liveries date from the original Compass repaint programme.

How to use a livery

  1. Identify your flight model — the aircraft you have installed in your sim (e.g., FlyByWire A380X in MSFS 2024, FlightFactor A350 in X-Plane 12)
  2. Filter by sim platform and aircraft type above
  3. Download the matching livery file from Google Drive
  4. Follow the installation notes included in the download (usually involves extracting the aircraft folder into your sim's Community or aircraft directory)

Adding new liveries

Compass welcomes new repaints from skilled livery designers. Get in touch via the Pilots' Forum or contact Compass operations directly.

Tribute and heritage schemes

Some Compass aircraft carry special schemes. Filter by AviatorTribute, Memorial, or Heritage above to find them.

Aviator tributes — honouring Australian and New Zealand aviation pioneers:

  • Charles Ulm (VH-GRA) — Kingsford Smith's co-pilot on the 1928 Southern Cross trans-Pacific flight, lost over the Pacific in 1934
  • Jean Batten (ZK-JEM) — the great New Zealand aviator, first woman to fly solo from England to Australia (1934); registered ZK- in recognition of her New Zealand heritage

Memorial — honouring members of the Compass community:

  • Tuppy (VH-LNC) — in memory of Chris Tripp, remembered in the Hall of Fame In Memoriam; his picture appears on the vertical stabiliser

Heritage and themed schemes:

  • Evil Air (VH-GRU) — a long-running Compass gag; the registration coincidentally matched the Minions villain Gru, who has "creatively acquired" the aircraft and operates it as Evil Air, complete with the SELCAL EV-IL
  • Hercules (VH-YLH) — Compass Cargo 777F heavy-lift theme
  • Atlas (VH-STD) — Compass Cargo MD-11F heavy-lift theme
  • ORBIS — commemorating the ORBIS International flying eye hospital
  • Compass Retro — heritage colour schemes on the B747 and other classic types

Sir Humphrey's archive

For the historical record, the following materials are no longer in active circulation but remain in deep storage: FS98, FS2000, FS2002, and FS2004 era Compass liveries, including the original three Compass Concordes from the FS2004 default model. These have been securely archived under the Thirty-Year Rule.
